Kohen Hammond is an emerging composer and guitarist from Toronto, Ontario. He is a graduate of the  Bachelor of Music program at Humber College. His piece, Serious Distance, was awarded The Serge Garant Award 2017 SOCAN Young Composers Awards. His compositions explore the ways that jazz and classical music interact and incorporate electronic aspects with acoustic instruments. His compositions aim to explore new areas, while making use of existing structures.

Kohen has had the pleasure to study composition and performance with such incredible educators as David Occhipinti, Geoff Young, Ted Quinlan and Ravi Naimpally. While he was at Humber he was awarded the Ted Quinlan Guitar award and the Graham Clarke Memorial Scholarship. His piece Kafka On the Shore was featured on the annual Humber CD which features student compositions and performances.

His debut album Fragments of Moments will be released in August 2018. It features a collection of his compositions for mixed chamber ensembles. It features 2 stand alone pieces for an instrumental chamber ensemble and a five part suite for chamber ensemble and soprano voice. This piece was a collaboration with Toronto author Nawi Moreno.
